Sadie’s middle school year is off to a terrible start. Her best friend moved away and she has to navigate school all alone. On top of navigating complicated social dynamics, Sadie also struggles with focus in school as she adjusts to her new IEP (Individualized Education Plan). As Sadie grapples with her new reality, her moms find it difficult to understand and support her in a way she needs. When Sadie befriends a stray dog, she is dumbfounded that she can understand the dog. Could it be true? They can communicate telepathically! But keeping the dog seems like a lost cause when one of her mom’s, the vet, flatly refuses.
Lucky for Sadie, her grandpa moves in with them. Aside from the fear surrounding his memory lapsing, he is on board with Sadie adopting the dog, Dewey. Despite having a rough time, Sadie is surprised to find her former enemy, Macy, has become a new friend. Will Sadie, Macy and Gramps successfully hide the dog, or will all craziness ensue?
